Bunora Sierra Mist

Bunora's owners had to move interstate , and as she was an older horse, they didnt want to put her through the stress of days of travelling to move her as well.
When I took "Nora" on, she hadn't been handled in 2 years, and was quite a cranky girl at first. She settled in quickly and enjoyed sharing a paddock with Monty & Mister.
Sadly she developed an internal abdominal tumour which began bleeding. This took its toll on her health and caused her pain, so she was put to sleep.
Candy
Candy is a Standardbred mare, born in 1989. She was a private surrender in early 2014. She had a long unsuccessful harness racing career, before being used for breeding in her old age.
She was quite fat and unfit upon arrival, having been fed a diet consisting mainly of bread and duck seed, with a little bit of hay.
Her hooves had not been trimmed in a very long time, and she was full of worms. She also had a significant amount of back and pelvic pain.
She is a sweet, gentle old girl, who has now been adopted into a program for children with special needs.

Milly

Milly was a young filly who came into care with a significant injury that hadn't been treated, and she hadn't been well handled.

It didn't take long for her sweet personality to shine through, and her mistrust to give way to her desire to be around humans. She is highly intelligent and loves to learn new things.

She has been adopted and is living in a family with two daughters who love to spend time with her.
Blossom
Blossom is a black miniature mare of unknown breeding and was approximately 4 years old when she was surrendered. She came into care with her mother, who she had never been away from. She was totally unhandled when she was picked up, which made floating a real challenge.

She was very obese, and with her poor conformation, she was having some trouble with her hind legs. Her hooves hadn't been properly trimmed in years. She has allergies which cause her to scratch badly.

She has now been re-homed to a family with many children to give her all the love she deserves

Ned

Ned is a standardbred gelding who was born in December 2010.
He was a private surrender and was an unhandled colt with stunted growth when he came to us in May 2012. He hadn't been around horses other than his mum, and had spent 6 months locked in a small yard prior to being surrendered.
He had energy to burn, and no real idea of how to behave around other horses.

He spent time learning how to behave in a herd, as well as how to behave around humans. In 2015 he was adopted to his forever home on a large block with a few paddock mates.
Princess
Princess was a private surrender. She came into care at approximately 13 years of age, and was Blossom's mother. She was incredibly obese when she first came into care due to her diet being mainly bread and bird seed.

She had not had her hooves properly trimmed in her lifetime. This, combined with poor conformation, had led to one of her hind hooves being 'knuckled over' for many years.
Despite every attempt to correct her hoof placement when walking, she was unable to walk without rolling over onto her coronet band. She began to develop arthritis in her stifle and hip, which was causing her pain significant enough to trigger weight loss. She was humanely put to sleep, and buried under a shady tree near a dam.

Jack

Jack was originally bred for harness racing.

His breeder was no longer able to keep him.

He has been adopted by a woman who loves him dearly and takes great care of him.
Shapely Escort
Shapely Escort is a Standardbred mare, who was originally bred for harness racing.

She has now been adopted into a loving home where she has a whole herd of cattle to boss around.

Chappy

Chappy is a lovely Standardbred gelding.

He had been left in a paddock for a number of years, and had sustained a large chest/leg and hoof wound during this time.

Despite his scars his new owner fell in love with him and adopted him as her first horse.
Jimmy
Jimmy was a surrender from Northern Queensland. He had been neglected for a long time and had to remain in care near Townsville until he was well enough to travel to the Gladstone region.

He was very thin and had a large 'swamp cancer' on the inside of his near side hind. Surgery went well, was healing beautifully, and he was gaining weight.
Sadly the infection travelled up into his lymph nodes and his leg ballooned to the point where he was unable to weight bare.
He was PTS humanely is his paddock with his friends.
I will never forget this gentle soul

Mister

Mister was a scruffy old pony who had been left in a paddock untouched for many years. I tracked down his owner who surrendered him into care. He has chronic laminitis and a terrible skin condition.

He spent 5 years with me in retirement, as he was not suitable for rehoming with his ongoing health issues. He was Monty's best friend.

Sadly in winter 2016 his arthritis got so bad no medication or other treatments were able to keep him comfortable and he was PTS at approximately 34 years of age.
He is greatly missed.
Reeva
Reeva was a privately surrendered Thoroughbred mare, approximately 27 years old.

She had consistent scouring, drooling from her mouth, and puss coming from her right nostril. We managed to clear up her nasal, dental and scouring issues. She even started gaining some weight and became quite frisky.

Sadly an unknown person started to feed her when i wasn't there. She was being fed huge amounts of bread, which made her quite sick. She had light bouts of colic, scoured dramatically and started losing weight faster than we could stop. She was put to sleep before she got any worse.

Please ALWAYS ask the owner before feeding an animal. You may think you are helping, but you could be making things much, much worse.

Ransom

Ransom is a QH cross gelding, who is around 12-14 years old.

He is a total gentleman to handle in every way.

He has been adopted in 2018.
Joni
Joni was a private surrender at 16 years of age.

Sadly she was an extremely aggressive mare, charging and attacking any person she could get near. We persevered with her for 6 months, trying many options, but sadly she showed no sign of improvement. She was very unhappy and seemed to have no quality of life.

In consultation with a number of professionals, it was decided that the kindest thing to do was have her put to sleep.
